CONTEMPORARY ART PORTRAIT....

I wanted to create a portrait purely on back light, but then thought it maybe quite interesting to disguise identity further by placing transparent material between the camera and the model....

This was personally my best and most fun shoot. The model felt totally at ease behind the material, giving her the freedom to move and express interesting shapes.

Before that we also looked at simple backlighting techniques...

I really like how the bottom left image gives a white halo around the face, this wouldn't be visible if not for the lifted arm behind the face.

Also the top left is overexposed, but like how it blows out part of the face, this image is very angelic to me.

I originally wanted to place the logo in the hair, bottom left. But I felt design wise, this works better.

Black & White 1960's style portrait shoot....

It seems the whole shoot has a slight noise to the images, a little baffled as to why as my ISO was set at 200? need to find out why....

This campaign originally shot by Rankin, effectively highlights issues surrounding the eye sight in under privileged countries. 

SHOTS I THINK WORK...

I really wanted my models eyes to tell a story and have a sense of sadness to them.... 

I kept over exposing the image! 

The last image here is just stunning, Alicia took on board everything I wanted to portray in the image and really executed this in the shot above. This is probably the one I will choose for my final image.

Although the smiling image is inappropriate for the campaign, she has a beautiful smile and I felt it a shame to leave it out. 

Photoshop job gone bad, I'm a self taught photoshop user and very much still learning... Having trouble making the skin flawless, whist keeping it looking semi realistic!

1ST STUDIO SHOOT....

In this shot I wanted to achieve the illusion of Betty looking up at the light, I added an orange gel to simulate a street light, but couldn't get it right.

Although this series of photo's was supposed to use a slow shutter speed i found that using faster speeds resulted in better results.

These were all achieved using no tripod, resting on props within a club at a shutter speed of 0.625, ISO  2000.

Light experiments;

 The 2 photo's above were achieved using radical zoom, both at a 1 second shutter speed and 400 ISO.

I panned this photo from right to left over a 1 second period at an ISO of 400 again.

By slowing down the shutter speed to a 1/50th of a second it enriched the colours.
